Our Competition Program is designed for dancers who are passionate about growing their skills, challenging themselves, and being part of a dedicated team environment.
Competition dancers receive focused training in a variety of styles including pom, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, kick, and the skills incorporated into these styles. Classes focus on strong technical foundations, performance quality, teamwork, and versatility while encouraging dancers to grow both individually and as teammates.
Our teams are built on encouragement, accountability, and a positive team culture. We strive to create an environment where dancers feel supported, motivated, and proud of the work they accomplish both inside and outside of the studio.
Competition dancers are challenged to train at a higher level while still fostering a love for dance, teamwork, and performance. Through dedication and consistent training, dancers build skills that prepare them not only for success on stage, but also for growth beyond the dance floor.
Our competition teams consist of dancers ages 6 years through 12th grade and dancers are placed on teams according to their skill level.

At Red Cedar Dance Company, we know that dance technique is something that needs to be built upon and practiced to allow dancers to continue to grow. Classes focus on strong technical foundations, performance quality, teamwork, and versatility while encouraging dancers to grow both individually and as teammates.
Throughout the season, dancers attend regional competitions and performance opportunities that allow them to showcase their hard work, gain valuable experience, and create lasting memories together. While competitive success is celebrated, our primary focus is on personal growth, commitment, sportsmanship, and developing confident, well-rounded dancers.
Team Placement & Auditions
Placement on our Competition Teams is determined through an audition process each season. Dancers are evaluated on factors such as technique, performance quality, skill level, work ethic, and overall readiness for the commitment and expectations of the program.
Because team placement is based on a variety of factors, not all dancers who audition will receive an invitation to join a Competition Team. However, every dancer has a place in our program and we encourage dancers who don’t make a competition team to continue growing and training through our Recreational Program, which offers valuable performance opportunities, technique training, and continued skill development in a positive team environment.
We believe every dancer’s journey looks different, and our goal is to help each dancer find the program where they will feel challenged, supported, and successful.
